These kernels are brown in color, thus called sharbati, which is a urdu term used for the color of sharbat, they have a sligh masala taste because of the brown skin they have. In the year 2022, walnut production in kashmir was hampered, that is because of low rainfall in kashmir region, due to which the walnut kernels did not get enough water for proper growth, and alot of sharbati kernels were seen in production in kashmir valley. Due to the heavy supply of sharbati walnut kernels, the market of walnuts and walnut kernels dropped significantly. The problem with processing unit and traders is that they don’t completely dry and take care of this type of walnut kernel, which not only affects the quality of kernels but also defames this product.
